Bad Sun Rising

     Just before dawn was to rise, Odette ran across the sand of Ordau's main island with Seraphina's hand in hers. She knew that Commander Ollitaya kidnapped Seraphina as a ploy to get Odette in his crosshairs and he was right in that she couldn't resist. If Odette revealed herself, she would die, but Seraphina would pay the price if Odette stayed away. 

 

     Not four meters away is the green grassy slopes to the forests and the coasts. Seraphina hides in the safety of the tall grass with Odette's camera as Ollitaya's men encircle Odette. Dawn is just about to rise and Odette smiles as if this is her victory. Even as Ollitaya aims his gun, Odette smiles and she's still smiling when she hits the ground. Ollitaya knows he has won, but the victory is hollow. 

 

     By the time the sun touches Odette's body, she is dead and the picture Seraphina snaps of her is on the website of every news organization. When they refuse to release her body, single mother Naomi travels to the large cluster of islands of Ordau in order to bring her daughter home. What seems like a tale of a grieving mother takes a wild turn when some of Naomi's own secrets were revealed.
